*Applaud JNI Aid Group for supporting them

Victims of the crisis in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, are decrying not having any form of relief from government, two weeks after the unfortunate situation that befalls them.
Recall that, on January 23, 2024, crisis broke out in the locality, where a lot of people were killed, others missing, while many houses and worship centers were burnt down, leading to the displacement of thousands.
It is against this backdrop, that as part of its mandate of providing instant relief to the victims of natural and man made disasters, the Nigerian Aide Group of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) Plateau State Chapter, quickly swung into action by seeking for assistance from public spirited individuals in cash and kind for immediate conveyance to Mangu, so as to ameliorate plight of the victims.
A delegation of the JNI Aid Group led by the Plateau state director of volunteers Alhaji Danjuma Khalid presented the relief materials on Tuesday 06-02-2024, at the Mangu Central Mosque, where many of the victims live as Internally Displaced Persons.
While presenting the relief items to the JNI Aid Group of Mangu Local Government Area, Alhaji Danjuma Khalid lamented the sorry condition in which they found the IDPs, calling on the concerned authorities to come to their aid.
He also appreciated the public spirited individuals, who heeded their call for assistance to the victims, while seeking for more help considering the number of people in the IDPs.
Receiving the Items, members of the relief distribution committee set up by the JNI Aid Group, Jafar Musa Daskegar and A’isha Muhammad, reacted by saying, from the statistics they have currently, there are more than one thousand victims, many of whom are women and children in the two IDPs camps located within Mangu town.
Appreciating the Plateau State JNI Aid Group for the humanitarian gesture rendered to them, some of the IDPs narrated their situation in emotionally laden voices, saying life has been very difficult to them, due to lack of the necessities of day-to-day life, calling on government at all levels to provide them succour.
Some of the Items presented to the IDPs by the Plateau State JNI Aid Group, include 140 5kg bags of rice, 20 cartoons of cooking oil, three cartoons of cooking seasoning, five cartoons of salt, 20 cartoons of spaghetti, clothing, mosquito nets, baby diapers, sanitary pads among other things.
